About Boulder Blossom

About Us

Boulder Blossom is rooted in a long history of a family’s commitment to the environment.  Beginning in 1908, when the Savage family’s ancestor William Kent donated Muir Woods to the U.S. government, the family has made protecting planet Earth a core family mission. Get the inside scoop of those letters between Kent and President Theodore Roosevelt below!

In 1990, William Kent Savage and Steve Savage started Eco-Products – one of the first companies to introduce compostable food service products to the United States. Now a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of compostable products, Eco-Products has significantly decreased the amount of plastic and other trash that enters landfills, fresh water, and oceans.

From 1990-1996, William Kent Savage served as Chairman of Boulder’s Eco-Cycle.  With his leadership, Boulder County developed the first full-service recycling center, which is still located off of 63rd St. in Boulder CO.  This vision has made Boulder County a national leader and pioneer in environmental initiatives for the State of Colorado and the nation.

Honoring his father’s legacy, Steve Savage started 1908 Brands in Boulder, recalling the year of the Muir Woods donation.  1908 Brands has created/developed environmentally conscious or “better for you” brands such as Boulder Clean,  CompoKeeper, Fruitivity, Thrive Tribe, Schultz Gourmet, Bundle Organics, Three Bears, and more.

Boulder Blossom was founded by Kathy Savage Thompson, a family member who also wishes to honor her father’s legacy by designing landscapes that reflect and preserve Colorado’s natural beauty.  Building off a degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Colorado, Kathy grows and selects trees, shrubs, and other perennial plants that have a symbiotic relationship with Colorado's soil and climate.  She helps clients design their outdoor spaces to become a living sanctuary of both beauty and sustainability in the long-term.

Join us to make your home reflect the natural landscapes that surround us.  We’re on a mission!
